Core Activities

TPWWO has undertaken number of activities in the current year that has virtually invited attention of different supporters, contemporary NGOs and various Government agencies. All its activities as yet have developed conducive environment ensuring a demonstrative background for an egalitarian society characterized by sustainable and participatory model of development.

EDUCATION PROGRAMME:

Children’s (English Medium School) educational institution named “KIDZ” is continuing at PODAGADA village of Dasmantapur block of Koraput District with rural and tribal pupil one of the most beautiful. The institution having fifty-five (55) students under the age group of 3 to 7 years and running another urban school at JEYPORE having Eighty (80) students from age group of 2 to 6. The schools having eight teachers & two attendant with one fully office attendant and one principal in the school. CBSE course under English education is main activity of the organization to provide corner to corner of tribal area.

TPWWO also runs two (2) adult education centre with forty-eight (48) female under the age group of 18 to 60 years. Basically the women and senior citizens are the SHG group members. Due to illiteracy the women are facing so much difficulty in their daily life as well as bank transaction. With the aim of women sustainability TPWWO is trying to give its best to mobilize the tribal and rural women folk with the adult education centre. TPWWO is trying to educate as well as give some awareness programme to the tribal women in health sanitation, economic & environmental sphere.

 WATER AND SANITATION PROGRAMME:

TPWWO, in association with the District Water and Sanitation Mission, Koraput, with involve on water and sanitation programme and TLS. Individual hygiene is a major thrust area in the entire scheme of water and sanitation programme. Past the organisation has undertook many programme of constructing Individual Household Latrines in its area of Boipariguda. Activities like wall painting, village meetings, mothers’ meeting, school rallies etc. Organization was constructed one model IHHL at Kathapada and Dasmantapur GP for chose the alternative IHHL for beneficiary.

HEALTH PROGRAMME:

Good health is super structure of a good tribal family. Due to this problem the people, especially in the tribal areas do not have access to quality healthcare which most often than not in a semblance. So many CHC/PHC health centers remain close for most of the time during the day of emergency and less attended of doctor, people prefer to suffer from minor ailments rather than to seek treatment which aggravate later. So like every year TPWWO organised free health check up camps and distribute medicine in the tribal areas of Koraput district in KATHAPADA village and Mantrianbo of Boipariguda block. Local PHC, MO and HQ of CDMO will supply medicine for the camp.

PROGRAMME ON WOMEN:

Over the past few years there have been talks on women emancipation and empowerment. As part of the programme women self-help groups are being formed which are successfully used in many areas to bring in a social improvement. TPWWO is also trying to emulate the model, which has been successfully replicated in other areas. In the year of reporting the organisation held three awareness-cum-training camps in each of the three Gram Panchayats name Umeri and provide 5,000.00 each loan to three WSHGs group for Poultry farming under Jeypore Block of Koraput district and 17 was links to national bank for loan.

Tailoring and embroidery comes naturally to women. But most of the time this natural talent is not sophisticated enough to earn them a livelihood. TPWWO also running three tailoring training centre with 39 women and adults girl  are taken with affordable monthly fees at Bada Jagannathpur and Kenduguda village under Koraput District. TPWWO plan to open another two centre in the current year.

TPWWO continued its programme on food processing. During the year 46 women were took training on food processing like Papada, Prickle, Mixture, Badi, Sauce, sank etc. and marketing who after their successful training are earning a decent income. TPWWO is associate with local market and daily hata is the platform for WSHG and training women to sale her food product smoothly.

Orissa is home to thousands of artisans who produce exotic artifacts out of clay, wood, metals, stone, clothes and grass. These master pieces attract huge price in the national and international market. However, the middlemen who buy these items from the artisans at a throw away price and sell in the more lucrative market. In order to provide these artisans a forum TPWWO participate in handicrafts exhibitions at Koraput, with associate DSMS and DRDA (DIC)  in which more than 30 WSHG artisans participated to various parts of village of Koraput district. This forum was very useful as they got a chance to interact with the buyers directly bypassing the middlemen which provided more profit to them. TPWWO also participate in the district level exhibition by ORMAS and sale the product which is done by trainees of Vocational unit.

ENVIRONMENT & FOREST:

Keeping in view the destruction and devastation caused to the environment and damage caused to human life and environment due to degradation and degeneration of environment & continuous depletion of forest – organization has concentrated on Forest & Environment activities over these years by organizing

  • Environment Awareness Campaign with Support from Local partner NGO
  • Training on Bio Diversity
  • Observation of Bana Mahotsava.

CLOTH FOR WORK IN KORAPUT DISTRICT (WHY   THIS GOONJ WORK WITH TPWWO):

After interaction with Goonj the partner community convergence through community based organizations i.e. SHG, Self help co-operatives, adult education group, VDMC, Farmers club /local NGOs etc, it was demanded by the villagers and women.

We adopted a gram panchayat in G.P of Boipariguda block for a model GP for livelihood programme. Various meetings and demand of the villagers, we felt some work is lying without support of any body from govt and other sources. It can be improve and develop for a healthy environment with cleaning and making communication facilities with their labour and contribution for the cloth for work.

The villagers were deciding in the pallisabha to repair the road and pond cleaning in Ekamba and Kathapada and other villages. As per the interest the Lepaguda villagers 1st ahead to bring the cloth from state office, Bhubaneswar for their water body and pond clinging activities. We are also interested to promote a healthy environment with people’s participation for their healthy village. Then we interested and contact to Mr. Suresh kumar and organisation members for organized the field trip for interaction with village people along with our field level workers, volunteers, members and villagers in various stakeholders.
